Goals

To enhance Yreka Creek’s capability as an anadromous fish (Salmon and Steelhead) stream

To provide educational opportunities regarding the values of aquatic and streamside resources

To provide an additional recreational opportunity with the community that enhances both quality of life and tourism.

To serve as a key link in establishing a city-wide non-motorized transportation system

Current Projects

In 2006 Yreka Creek Greenway was awarded $1.4 million grant through the California River Parkways Grant Program. In addition to our previous and continuing projects, this funding supports our current Greenway improvements.

Construction Planned for 2010/2011

  • Floodplain restoration along Yreka Creek to enhance riparian, aquatic and human habitats
  • Accessible trail along Yreka Creek
  • Trailhead, picnic areas, bridges, restrooms, and interpretive panels
  • New outdoor classroom at the Yreka Creek Greenway Visitor Center on Main Street
